“Concentration of power is the ability to focus on and accomplish your most vital priorities.” Charles R. Hobbs, Time Power “There’s just so much going on right now!” is the lament I’ve heard from almost every client in the past few days. Engage the Power of a Year-end Debrief
December 15th, 2010 · No Comments · Leadership, Productivity, Vision
Over the last few days, I’ve been spontaneously thinking about the past year, wondering “How’s it gone? What’s happened, really?”
This time of year offers us a powerful opportunity to take a leap forward, by pausing for a year-end debrief.
Elite athletes take time at the end of a game to replay video footage, review the plays, debrief what worked and pinpoint the next areas of growth. We can empower ourselves by doing the same thing with our businesses and our lives. A potent debrief includes three parts: savouring, celebrating and learning.
A Whole New Place
November 16th, 2010 · No Comments · Leadership, Productivity, Vision
What if you ended your year in a whole new place?
As we reach mid-November, suddenly the end of the year has popped into view. I’m crazy-busy, and it seems like everyone around me is too. We’re pulled in all directions by demands, To Do lists and dreams. (Can you relate?) When it looks like we might not get it all done, it’s easy to think “I’ll do it next year…” or “If I can just make it through to the holidays.”
This time of year holds a hidden possibility. It’s a time of tremendous power. Just like in nature, it’s the harvest season, and we have the opportunity, if we claim it, to achieve breakthrough results. We can choose – amidst all the things we could do, should do, ought to do – to focus on doing the things that will make the biggest difference and realize meaningful results.
Overcoming Overwhelm

Fall is here – that exciting, dynamic time of year when we harvest all the good we’ve been working toward this year. However, it’s also a time when the pace of our lives can suddenly ramp up uncontrollably. For many of us, the pace of fall can push our already busy lives over the top and we feel overwhelmed.
Overwhelm is a major obstacle to living our passion and making our unique contribution in our business. When we’re overbooked, overcommitted and overstretched, it’s almost impossible to experience joy. If your life has started to feel like a herd of runaway horses, this month’s article will give you steps to help you take charge of your pace, whatever opportunities or demands come your way this month.
